You May Be Interested In Census Bureau to Host Webinar on Release of 2021 American Community Survey 1-Year Estimates The U.S. Census Bureau will hold a webinar Sept. 8 explaining how to access data and online resources from the 2021 American Community Survey (ACS) set to be publicly released on Sept. 15. The webinar will also provide tips for comparing ACS geographies and statistics over time. Embargo subscribers will have access to these statistics from Tuesday, September 13, at 10 a.m. EDT, to September 15, at 12:01 a.m. EDT. The American Community Survey provides a wide range of important statistics about the nation's people and housing, such as language spoken at home, education, commuting, employment, mortgage status and rent, income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. The Opportunity Project: Census Innovation Expands its Focus to Puerto Rico Each year, the U.S. Census Bureau brings together cross-sector collaborators to solve some of the nation's biggest challenges with data and technology through The Opportunity Project (TOP) product development sprints. TOP is an innovation program led by the Census Open Innovation Labs at the Census Bureau. TOP engages government, technologists, and communities to co-create digital products that serve the public using federal open data. To date, more than 1,700 people, 33 federal agencies, and hundreds of organizations have participated in TOP sprints — resulting in nearly 175 new open data tools including apps, websites, mapping tools, data visualizations, games and more. Making the Most of Mapping in data.census.gov Join us in this participatory class as we look at mapping capabilities in data.census.gov. You'll learn the basics of mapping, including how to map data found in tables available in the site. Next, you'll learn how to use the mapping capabilities to discern between geographies and determine if they have changed over time. Then you'll take a quick look at another great mapping tool offered by the Census Bureau—TIGERweb. Time is allotted throughout the training for questions. General familiarity with navigating data.census.gov is recommended. Using two monitors is recommended for this class, if available. Registration is required to attend these workshops. Attendance is limited to 50 participants per session. |
