STATS FOR STORIES (SFS)

Tomorrow is Super Bowl LV. The Census Bureau has created two visuals for this event. The interactive data visualization "Big Game Census:2021" maps the hometowns of all players of the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The infographic "Top 50 Metro Areas in the U.S. Have 31 NFL Teams" features the metro areas represented by all 32 NFL teams. Can you guess which team is from the smallest metro area (#158)?

Big Game

Did you know that this game features players from 25 different states, and three countries? The Big Game Census interactive visualization takes a closer look at the players' place of birth, and gives you access to Census data points for those places.

Click on a city or state to begin. Next, explore the table and bar chart to learn more about the birthplaces of the players in the big game. Click on the hyperlinks (when available) to be redirected to a data.census.gov site for more information on various geographies.

SB MSA NFL

Fun fact: If the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers had won their championship games, Super Bowl LV would feature the two NFL teams from the smallest metro areas. Buffalo is #49 and Green Bay is #158.
