STATS FOR STORIES (SFS)

 Today is Groundhog Day (again) and the famous rodent "Punxsutawney Phil" saw his shadow which portends six more weeks of winter. Tomorrow is National Women Physician Day. Thursday is Mail Carrier Day. February is American Heart Month.

Groundhog Day: February 2

According to NOAA, Groundhog Day originates from an ancient celebration midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox — the day in the middle of winter.

Women Physician

National Women Physician Day: February 3

According to the 2019 American Community Survey (ACS), there were 264,002 women physicians. Full-time earnings were $185,183.

Mail Carrier Day: February 4

The 2019 American Community Survey estimated 701,620 civilian employees in the U.S. Postal Service (395,415 male and 306,205 female), down from 716,936 in 2010.

The 2019 American Community Survey estimated there were 698,316 physicians, 107,710 physician assistants, 19,421 radiologists and 48,495 surgeons in the U.S.
