HSE eBulletin Brexit has changed rules and procedures for some The UK has left the EU but remains strongly committed to the effective and safe management of chemicals.   Some regulations have changed as the UK has established independent regulatory regimes.   For more information please see below. Biocides An independent biocides regulatory regime is now in operation in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales).   The existing EU Biocidal Products Regulation (EU BPR) has been copied into GB law and amended to enable it to operate effectively in GB. This means that most aspects of EU BPR will continue in the same way under the new GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR) that came into force at 11pm on 31 December 2020. Our biocides guidance has details of the GB BPR requirements for biocidal products in Great Britain Our updated biocides Brexit page highlights the main differences between EU BPR and GB BPR as well as the things that are unchanged We have published a series of fact sheets with detailed information for businesses that want to gain, or maintain, access to the GB market after 31 December 2020. See the list of GB authorised biocidal products which provides details of biocidal products which can be supplied in Great Britain Classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals Chemicals placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) are regulated by the GB Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation, known as GB CLP.   HSE is the GB CLP Agency and carries out certain CLP functions formerly undertaken by the European chemicals agency (ECHA).   Our updated CLP website contains guidance on how to comply with the GB CLP Regulation. Export and import of hazardous chemicals (GB PIC) The Great Britain Export and Import of Hazardous Chemicals Regulation (GB PIC) now applies in England, Scotland and Wales.   Businesses exporting or importing PIC-listed chemicals from or to Great Britain are required to comply with the new GB PIC regime.   Visit our website for more information on the PIC regulations. Plant Protection Products (PPP) An independent pesticides regulatory regime is now in operation in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales).   New decisions taken under the EU regime do not apply in Great Britain.
