These are simply brands I personally like and buy.

You can find these swaps at natural grocery stores and online. 

Swap #1: Almond Butter

INSTEAD OF: Jif, Barney Butter

CHOOSE: Artisana, MaraNatha, Wilderness Poets

The healthiest brands are organic, raw, and just one ingredient: nuts and perhaps sea salt. This goes for any type of nut butter! 

Swap #2: Salad Dressing

INSTEAD OF: Hidden Valley, WishBone, Kraft

CHOOSE: Bragg, Mother Raw, Primal Kitchen, Tessemae

Honestly, I usually just make my own salad dressing. But, if I'm going to buy one, I look for organic versions made with organic extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. Steer clear of the ones made with soybean or canola oil and added sugar! These ingredients increase the risk of obesity, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. 

Swap #3: Ketchup

INSTEAD OF: Heinz, Hunts

CHOOSE: Tessemae, Primal Kitchen, Thrive Market

Thankfully, you can now buy ketchup without high fructose corn syrup or even any refined sugar at all. Tessemae makes an organic ketchup sweetened with dates. Primal Kitchen and Thrive Kitchen both make completely unsweetened ketchup! 

Swap #4: Pasta

INSTEAD OF: Barilla, Ronzoni

CHOOSE: Tolerant, Chickapea, Jovial

Most pasta is heavily processed flour with no nutrition. And, most gluten-free pastas are made with processed corn and white rice flour with some hidden trans fat (mono & diglycerides). There are much healthier options made with 100% organic chickpeas and lentils. Give them a try and I think you'll be amazed at how delicious they are, with the same texture as regular pasta.

Swap #5: Cooking Oil

INSTEAD OF: Wesson, Mazola, Crisco

CHOOSE: Nunez De Prado, Nutiva

Conventional cooking oils are made from GMOs and go through an insane amount of processing with chemical solvents, steamers, neutralizers, de-waxers, bleach and deodorizers before they end up in the bottle. They're also full of omega-6 fatty acids, which promotes inflammation in your body. Instead - choose organic extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oils that are cold-pressed and unrefined.
