Will FDA ban this cancer-causing preservative?

I have some great news for you today…

The FDA has launched a safety review of an ingredient that the Food Babe Army has been warning about for years: 

BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole)

This could lead to a federal ban. 

You'll currently find this man-made preservative in pie crusts, pizzas, sausage, pepperoni, powdered mixes, and in several popular products on American store shelves.

BHA is more restricted in Europe, where they are reviewing its potential to disrupt the endocrine system.

It has been shown in some research studies to increase the risk of cancer.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified BHA as "possibly carcinogenic to humans" since 1985.

And it has been deemed a "reasonably anticipated human carcinogen" by the U.S. National Toxicology Program since 1991. 

Yet it has remained in our food.

It has also been shown in some studies to potentially harm the reproductive system, decreasing sperm quality in males and uterine weight in females. Still other studies have linked BHA to immune system changes, hormone disruption, and other toxic effects.

There are much safer alternatives to BHA that food companies can use, such as Vitamin E.

In 1990, Dr. Glenn Scott petitioned the FDA to ban BHA from our food due to its health risks. 

The FDA has not taken action in over 30 years.

I'm so thankful that we finally have leaders in the FDA that are taking this seriously, and putting Americans' health above Big Food's profits.

They were alerted to the dangers of BHA in our food decades ago, and didn't do anything about it until now.

There's an extensive process that needs to be followed before an official ban can be put into place.

I suspect that all American food companies drop this ingredient rapidly to avoid upcoming regulations…

But it's still found in some products on store shelves today.

Read those ingredient lists and avoid products with the preservative BHA.
