Hi reader
Today I want to share my favorite sauces to stock my freezer with.
Now, don't get me wrong...
I'm not above purchasing jarred sauce. In fact, my favorite jarred sauce is Rao's marinara. I use it on everything from pizza to chicken parm. It's definitely on the pricier side, but if you live near a BJ's Wholesale or other wholesale clubs then look there for larger jars at a great price.
Anyway…
Back to homemade sauce.
When I can, I prefer to make homemade sauce.
Here's why:
π I control the ingredients. I can use the highest quality tomatoes, meats, and reduce (or remove) the sugar from the recipe.
π It's cheaper. A 32-ounce jar of organic spaghetti sauce will run anywhere between $4-$5 a jar. Maybe even more. I can make a HUGE pot of sauce with all organic ingredients for less than $10 - $15.
π Homemade is always better. Nothing beats the flavor of homemade sauce. Not to mention the amazing smells that fill up the house while the sauce is simmering. Mmmmm
Sauce freezes GREAT! Sauce freezes and reheats perfectly. In fact, frozen sauce tastes like it was just made after it's heated up.
I put this post together with my best tips on freezing sauces.
Alrighty, here are my favorite sauces to freeze:
