Hard to believe Thanksgiving is tomorrow! While it should be a day to celebrate and indulge with friends and family, all too often it becomes overwhelming, especially if you are hosting. Fortunately, there are some quick tips I've learned over the years that help keep things running smoothly and make your day easier. Whether this is your first time hosting or you've done it for years, try these hints this year!
Create a schedule: Creating a delicious holiday feast largely comes down to timing. Before you start cooking, make a list of everything you plan to make. Then look at all the recipes and their timing. This will help you create a schedule for what to put in the oven first and how you can make everything operate together. I write my schedule out and reference it throughout the process. This is also great if you have multiple cooks to help everyone work together.
Prep ingredients: You can prep ingredients like washing produce and chopping vegetables ahead of time. You can also cook any grains like rice the night before and store them in the fridge.
Stick to the essentials: Having a bountiful Thanksgiving meal doesn't have to mean making every possible dish. Instead of trying to do everything, I recommend making your main dish and a few of your family's most favorite sides. You'll likely still have plenty of food and even enough for leftovers, even if you cut out a few of the add-on sides you were considering.
