Well that was fun! Family, food, tinkering with the table(s!) and then moving right into Christmas cheer-making this weekend. Pulling out the decorations satisfies me in a deep way, and here's why: Dan and I and boys have now been doing this enough years that it feels like full-on Traditions have been established. We become "us," all together a family, with our own nostalgias and comfort in one another. I am grateful.
Our menu this week is for the food that Dan and I, and pretty much anyone who has ever eaten this, consider the ultimate comfort food: Hushweh. This dish is a meaty rice pilaf studded with buttery (or olive oil) toasted nuts and pieces of roasted chicken. That along with a crisp salad (for me, it's fattoush always) and I'm telling you...Tradition with a capital T!
Scroll down to see the full menu! If you have any turkey left you can use that in place of the chicken. I'm also including my cranberry sauce yogurt parfait which is a glorious way to eat leftover (or any) cranberry sauce. Plus: My Mom's Chocolate Buttercream, which will grace Dan's birthday cake this week!
Many of you and beyond are looking to our shop for your ingredients and gifts. Thank you! To celebrate, we are releasing our Cyber Monday special on our authentic Lebanese Spice line, right now to you. Shop code CYBERSPICE25 and save 15% on all of it. Enjoy your shopping (it's fun!) and the traditions you're establishing and keeping with the people you love.
Bless your hands,
Hushweh.
The easiest and among the most delicious dinners I make. Use a combo of your favorite nuts, or traditional pine nuts, or...none!
My mouth waters just sharing this photo and link over to make Fattoush! The dressing is my favorite, withpure pomegranate molasses, sumac, dried mint, garlic...you get the idea.
Sometimes I add a green vegetable to this menu, especially if other people will be joining us (which is often!). This broccolini is wonderful, and glammed up with tahini sauce.
