Good Morning! On this day in 1898, Frank Seiberling founded the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio. Initially, the company produced bicycle tires, horseless carriage tires, and horseshoe pads. It later expanded into automobile tires and other rubber products, eventually introducing the first tubeless tires.

UAW Workers Striking at GE Aerospace Facility

United Auto Workers members went on strike at midnight Thursday against Cincinnati-based GE Aerospace after contract talks failed, with workers picketing outside in union apparel.

The union's local chapter represents more than 600 employees at the Evendale and Erlanger, Kentucky, facilities. The Evendale site manufactures engines for the U.S. Navy.

GE's latest offer reduced a proposed health care cost hike from nearly 40% to 31% and included, on average, $29,000 in additional compensation for workers for the three-year contract.

Suspect Walks Out of OSU Hospital

A man accused of shooting at Marysville police in May briefly escaped custody Tuesday night, walking out of Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center before Columbus officers located and apprehended him.

Hospital officials said Dustin Ohm, 29, was not accompanied by law enforcement when he arrived, and that staff were unaware of his criminal charges.

Ohm had been transported to Wexner by Select Specialty Hospital, a rehabilitation facility, whose staff dialed 911 after he departed Wexner on a scooter.

Columbus police later found Ohm hiding at a family member's home.

CSU Opens Talks on USL Stadium

Cleveland State University began negotiations with the United Soccer League and USL Cleveland to develop a multipurpose stadium at the site of the Wolstein Center, now home to CSU men's and women's basketball.

USL Cleveland's proposal envisions an open-air venue hosting men's and women's professional soccer, along with other sporting events, concerts, and festivals.

Officials said construction would not start for two to three years, providing CSU time to identify a new home for its basketball programs.
