Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to host one last BBQ, picnic, or pool party before Summer ends. And there are plenty of amazing BBQ dishes and party foods to choose from on the blog. But one thing that can be difficult when serving a large group is having enough drinks for everyone.
Homemade drink recipes offer better flavor and more control over ingredients than buying canned sodas and other drinks, but they also require a little more planning. Fortunately, you can follow these tips for preparing large beverage pitchers in advance:
Scale up: Whatever drink recipe you find, you can multiply the ingedients by how many servings you'll need and mix in a large pitcher. That way, you won't spend the whole event making individual drinks.
Proper storage: If you make your party drink in advance, be sure to keep it chilled and covered so that it doesn't absorb any aromas from the fridge.
Careful with carbonation: While we all love a bubbly drink, recipes with carbonation take a little more care. If you make the drink in advance, leave the fizzy ingredient out of the mixture and pour it in as you're serving the drink. This will keep it from going flat.
Hold the ice: Ice can melt and water down your drink mix. To prevent this, keep the ice separate until you add it to individual glasses to serve.
