 | Sunday, April 6, 2025 | | Good Morning! On this day in 1959, the governing council of the Seminole Tribe approved a resolution allowing construction of The Everglades Parkway linking Florida's east and west coasts. Most people know it today as Alligator Alley. Welcome to the first Sunday issue of Flyover Florida! We're excited to be bringing you Florida coverage every day of the week. Thanks for joining us on this new leg of the journey! Today's sponsor is Kalshi, now offering a legal way to trade on sports, politics, and entertainment. Check them out today! They will face Houston on Monday. In a close game, Auburn led 46-38 at the half. Florida took the lead in the first few minutes of the second half. Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. gave the team a major boost, scoring 34 points. "I say it all the time, them guys trust me to take those shots. Sometimes they fall, and tonight was one of those nights," Clayton said. On an 11-game win streak, Florida heads to the national title game for the first time since its back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007. | Judge Blocks Immigration Law A Miami judge issued a temporary restraining order against a new Florida immigration law. The law made illegal immigration a state crime, giving Florida officials the authority to arrest and charge individuals. Critics of the law contend that immigration enforcement falls under federal jurisdiction, and the state has no legal authority to prosecute such cases. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams called the law "unconstitutional," halting arrests taking place under the law. A temporary restraining order typically lasts 14 days. The judge scheduled an April 18 hearing on the plaintiff's request for a preliminary injunction against the law. | Southern Living's Top Beach Bar of 2025 Southern Living named Flora-Bama in Perdido Key as the top beach bar of 2025, citing its sandy floors, 60-year legacy, and signature drink, the Bushwacker, a boozy chocolate milkshake. The honky-tonk bar also features five stages for live music. Other Florida bars received nods as well. The Mucky Duck on Captiva Island, featuring sugar white sand and Gulf sunset views, ranked No. 7 as it recovers from hurricane damage. At No. 10, Pensacola's Peg Leg Pete's was recognized for its pirate theme and live-streaming beach camera. | | Flying together with our sponsor For the first time in American history, trading on the outcome of March Madness games is legal in Florida thanks to Kalshi. This is possible because Kalshi operates like the stock market, where users trade against other users, instead of a traditional sportsbook, where everyone bets against the house. Rather than using complicated odds, Kalshi markets show a simple percentage. For example, Florida has a 50% chance of winning the title, which means a $100 trade would pay out $200 if it happens. Alongside simpler odds, there are other unique benefits to Kalshi, such as better pricing and the ability to cash out any time at fair market value. Trade March Madness today and profit from your opinion!

Kalshi is a prediction market, which is a market on the outcome of a future event—and these events can be almost anything. For example, you can trade on whether or not America will enter a recession in 2025 (currently a 63% chance), whether or not Trump will declassify the Epstein documents (currently 25%), who will win TIME's person of the year, or which movies will get Oscar nominations. Our most popular product by far though: elections. Right now, we have markets on which party will win in 2028, as well as who will be the nominee for both Republicans (current leader JD Vance) and Democrats (current leader Gavin Newsom).
