Miami University student Owen Ray, 19, and an unidentified college friend were arrested and jailed while on a spring break visit to Denmark after an Uber driver accused them of assault.

Ray's family claims the driver threatened and assaulted Ray, and the other student responded by pushing the driver to the ground.

After two weeks in custody, Danish authorities released Ray and his friend but withheld their passports, preventing them from leaving the country.

The confrontation began after the students entered the wrong destination in the Uber app and canceled the ride. The driver accused them of not paying. Receipts provided by Ray's family show the payment was made.
