Last week was extra special for me because I had the chance to host my amazing TBFS team here in Barcelona for our annual retreat!
Although I create the recipes you see on TastesBetterfromScratch, I have lots of help with many other aspects of running the business! (i.e., social media channels, post writing, graphic design, email, video, etc)
We all work remotely, spread across different parts of the U.S., but get together in person once a year.๐ It was SO fun showing them some of the beauty, history, and flavors of Spain!❤️
One of the highlights of the trip was a hands-on Spanish cooking class, where we made classic dishes like paella, pan con tomate (this one isn't on the site yet!), tortilla de patatas, and crema catalana. It was so much fun getting in the kitchen together and cooking some of my favorite Spanish foods!
We also toured the breathtaking Casa Milร and Park Gรผell, strolled the Gothic Quarter, El Born, and the Passeig de Grร cia, rode bikes at Barceloneta Beach, enjoyed a Flamenco show, and even took a day trip to Costa Brava and Girona.๐
The TBFS team is at the top of the Cathedral of Barcelona, walking streets in the Gothic Quarter, at Barceloneta Beach, and the stairs at Girona.
Highlights of the trip:
Rachel:I loved so much about Spain--the amazing architecture, the rich history in Barcelona, Girona, and Costa Brava, all the fresh food from the markets, and, of course, eating churros con chocolate! It was truly a trip of a lifetime, and I'm so grateful I got to experience it with the TBFS team!
Stacy: My favorite thing was La Sagrada Familia! Seeing it in person was unreal. Truly a magical experience
Dereth:Being together and exploring such a historical and beautiful part of the city (the Gothic Quarter) was my highlight! I loved spending time with the team, and the fact that we could do it in such an awesome place was the best!
Andrea: The highlight for me was the La Sagrada Familia - so incredibly beautiful and detailed! I could also eat pan con tomate and Paella every day! ๐
Liz (my twin sister): I loved the Spanish tapas, especially pan con tomate and fuet! I also really loved being surrounded by the Spanish language and watching Lauren so fluently guide us around the city!
It was a whirlwind of a week, and it reminded me how grateful I am for this job and this community—both the amazing women I work with and all of you who follow along and make TBFS recipes. Thank you!๐
I hope you're having a wonderful start to the year! I'd love to hear from you—have you ever been to Barcelona, or is it on your travel list? Hit reply and let me know!
