The entire City of Richmond, Henrico County, and part of Hanover County remained under a boil water advisory that could last until the weekend.

Yesterday, Richmond Mayor Danny Avula announced that the city had achieved full water pressure throughout its system. The water must now pass two tests 16 hours apart before it is declared safe to drink.

Neighboring Henrico County also hopes to have its system back to normal operation soon. "You're going to get water back today unless something crazy happens," Varina District Supervisor Tyrone Nelson said yesterday.

The water crisis began Monday when the Richmond system lost power during the winter storm, leading to ongoing technical issues ever since. Richmond's problems cascaded out into other systems that share pipes and equipment. All of Henrico has been under a boil water warning since Wednesday.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin activated the National Guard to help deliver pallets and tankers of water to the Richmond area.

Much of the Commonwealth can expect to see snow today, with a winter storm watch in effect for parts of central and southern Virginia.

The incoming storm is expected to bring mostly snow to Southwest Virginia, which got a mix of snow and freezing rain earlier this week.

Closer to the coast, forecasters predict more of a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain on top of the small amount of snow that reached the area on Monday.

Forecasters currently expect this to be a minor storm, but keep an eye on the forecast just in case.

When the state legislature reconvenes on Monday, it will have three new faces. Two senators and a delegate won special elections this week to fill empty seats. However, there has been no partisan change in either house.

Democrats control the Senate with a 21-19 majority and control the House with a 51-49 majority. Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin has a year left in his term.

These were the first elections held in the nation since Donald Trump won the White House in November, so "regardless of who wins, the results will be closely parsed for tea leaves about the political environment in the second Trump era," wrote Ally Mutnick at Politico.

However, each election was held in a heavily partisan district, and the results were not close or surprising.

A more conclusive test could come in November when Republican Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears faces Democrat Abigail Spanberger in the race to replace Youngkin. An early poll showed the two women effectively tied as the election year began.
