This development once again raises the possibility that the Rays may permanently relocate. Last week, the Rays announced they would play next year in the Yankees' spring training facility while their St. Petersburg stadium, Tropicana Field, either undergoes repairs from damage caused by Hurricane Milton or renovations per an agreement with the county. Following the Nov. 5 election and postponed October bond votes required of the deal by the city council ($287.5 million) and county commission ($312.5 million), newly elected leaders who campaigned against the renovation are reexamining the deal and asking to delay voting again. If the Rays cannot secure the new ballpark and the local government is unwilling to fix Tropicana Field, they may have no choice but to relocate. Montreal, Nashville, Charlotte, and other cities have been mentioned as possible new homes. | Head Found on Key Biscayne Belonged to Missing Teen Miami Beach police identified the human remains found on Key Biscayne last week as Victor Castaneda Jr., the 19-year-old who died saving his sister when they were caught in a rip current last Saturday. Castaneda managed to save his sister by tossing her closer to shore. Other swimmers pulled the girl from the water, but her brother was gone by the time they looked for him. Officers searched for Castaneda for three hours before suspending their efforts. On Tuesday, a human head was found by a person raking the beach on Key Biscayne behind the Key Colony II Ocean Sound condos. | State Buys Cattle Ranch Land for $4M Howard Cattle Corp., a 754-acre cattle operation in Hendry County, was purchased for $4,145,000 through a state-run program that prevents future development of agricultural land.
