This is the apple pie that gets the most attention at my house, all because of the nutty, buttery topping (and the perfect balance of sweet-tart apple filling). Little do they know from where I sit, I'm thrilled because it's delicious, but also: this is a bit easier than a double crust pie and 'm often looking for just that as holiday feasts approach.
Next-level easy is to make the apple pie filling in advance, the topping in advance (refrigerate) and even the bottom crust. Remember to add a whisper of rose water to the apples to bring out apple flavor beautifully.
