Which will take place as a side event to the Brussels Conference VIII on “Supporting the future of Syria and the Region” on Wednesday May 22 at 14h CET Despite relentless efforts, Syria’s health system remains strained, grappling with the aftermath of prolonged conflict, compounded by outbreaks of measles, cholera, and the devastating impact of the February 2023 earthquake. With over 14.9 million people requiring urgent humanitarian health assistance in 2024, the situation demands immediate attention. This event will be co-hosted by WHO, UNFPA and H.E. Mr Peter Krois, Ambassador pf Austria to Syria. The event will be an opportunity to reflect on the compounding health challenges in Syria at a time of increasing hardships and deprivation and to identify the most vulnerable populations affected and the measures and support required to ensure the most “left behind” are protected.
