Don't Get a Sodastream, Get This Instead |
For some time, the name Sodastream was synonymous with the home soda maker trend that started to explode in the mid 2010s. But, partly because they are fairly simple machines, tons of companies make them and there are several we think are better to keep around the house than the brand that used to seem like the only game in town. It's not that there's anything wrong with a Sodastream, but my colleague Wilder who has been testing soda makers for several years found that with very few exceptions the bubbly water that comes from home soda makers is very similar. So the choice of what to get is more about convenience (how well does it fit on the counter, how easy is it to change the CO2) and extra features. To that end, the Drinkmate down below is in a class by itself because it's the only machine that lets you carbonate things other than water. Do you need to carbonate a cocktail? Probably not, but it's a fun little gimmick you roll out at a party and there's only one thing you can use to do it. —Noah Kaufman |
