Hey there!
If you're following a low carb diet or keto diet, measuring how your body is effected by certain foods is key to learning what works to lose weight in your body.
I've been following a ketogenic diet for quite a few years now and have used blood ketone strips to test if I'm in ketosis and fat burning. Knowing how my body responds to certain ingredients has been a huge eye opener, but pricking my finger to take the blood sample isn't fun and I'd rather not do it very often.
Recently though I’ve been experimenting with a Biosense Breathe Ketone meter. I have to share that I love it so much because it is much more convenient to take with me wherever I go and I really hate pricking my finger to test blood ketones.
Intermittent Fasting and a Keto Diet
One of the keys to maintaining my weight loss has been a keto diet and intermittent fasting.
I intermittent fast every day and have an eating window of just 4 hours. I also do a weekly long fast of about 40 hours all for the purpose of health and getting into autophagy because I am working on shrinking the two nodules I have on my thyroid.
I usually end eating around 2pm daily and then have coffee with a tiny bit of cream but noticed that my numbers were showing low ketosis and that just challenged me to try to bring that number up!
I did two days last week with just black coffee after 2pm and look how the number jumped into the teens in the above picture! I couldn’t believe it!
Using a breathe ketone meter is fantastic if you really want to Biohack your health or just hate pricking your finger! I’m hooked!
Even my longer fasts is showing high ketosis and truly the only change was clean fasting!
