Good morning my dear friend! As I sit here with my coffee and most of my hurricane prep is done, I'm thinking about you. I can see my smoker from where I sit, the smoke is rolling off of it and a brisket is inside. Later, I'll add some chicken thighs, pork chops and country style pork ribs. Here is why I'm thinking about you. I'm the only one here and I'm going to need some help eating all of this food! A friend is coming over later if the roads are passable and I know I'll push some of the food off on them. Of course, the dogs are circling the smoker like sharks. In fact, I'm thinking I should get them all shark costumes and then take a video. I bet it would go viral. But you didn't come here for that. You came for the FOOD! Here's what's up at Loaves and Dishes this week.... Game Day and Fall Party Food! You'll want to try Sarah's Sausage Balls for a great taste. They go perfectly with Yum Yum Sauce or Tiger Sauce! Then, these chili pimento cheese jalapeno poppers are POPPING! YUM! On YouTube, we've been doing these Pumpkin Scones and my grandmother in law's SECRET RECIPE Chocolate Fudge that she always gave out for Christmas. If you want to see a replay of the class that Sarah and I taught for the St. Matthews Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky you can find it on YouTube as well. Here's the link. We had fun doing a SAUCE EXTRAVAGANZA! __________________________ HOT COOKING TIP OF THE WEEK I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and it dawned on me that I have THREE new favorite food items from this summer. When I say they are favorites, I mean, they are FAVORITES. I use them nearly every single day. Since we are friends, I'm guessing you already know how I love sauces, so it won't be any surprise to you that these are sauces and spices. None of these are affiliate links, so I'm not trying to sell you anything. I'm just showing you where and what they are.
If you try one of these, I hope you'll let me know what you think. You can write to me by clicking reply to any of these newsletters and your email will come straight to me! I LOVE to hear from .you! I try to answer every single one. As you know, I've been spending a lot of time with my mom and that limits the time I have for things like my actual work. But I WILL answer you, even if it takes a few days! ______________________________ THREE LITTLE THINGS As you know, I try to list a few little things that I'm thankful for each week. This helps me remember that there are always things to be thankful for, helps me stay grateful and keeps me humble and to think about the big things I'm thankful for too. I do this in hopes that you will also think about what you are thankful for.
____________________________ A FINAL WORD You are so very generous. I hope you know that. When you take a minute to say hello to someone you don't know. Check on a neighbor and see how they are doing. Send a text message to someone you haven't spoken to in a while. Those are all ways to be generous. You really don't have to spend a penny to do so. I saw you this week as you did some of these things (at least I saw a few people doing things like this and I know exchanges like this happen every day). It can be a mean world with mean people in it but I hope that doesn't cloud your vision of how things can be. Keep being a sweet heart. It makes the world a nicer place. Have a wonderful week. Stay safe in this hurricane. Keep those in its path in your prayers. Help clean up afterward if you can. Love you! Until next week, God willing and the creeks don't rise.
