Hey there reader,
We all have busy seasons of life - some we control and others we don't. Regardless, if we don't plan ahead of time, it's easy to let those busy moments completely derail us from our goals.
Everything we need (and want) to do replays in our heads as we try to survive the "hot zone" moments created by our lack of organization and preparedness.
Trust me; I get it. Oh, do I get it!
However, I'm not here to dwell. I try my best to be a "lesson learned" person so I can move on and not spin my wheels thinking, "only if I did this."
Here's something I've learned over the years. Are you ready for this groundbreaking revelation? Get organized before we get busy.
Yep, it's as simple as that.
Use the slower seasons of life to plan for the busier seasons. This will help you get through those busy times without stress and chaos.
You'll feel in control and won't be thrown off track. You'll likely be able to sit back and relax because you are prepared.
Ahhh, doesn't that sound wonderful? Me too!
Here are three things you can do to prepare for a busy day, week, or month ahead of time.
Create a few rotating meal plans. When I have a million things going on in my head, my meal plan is the last thing I want to think about. Ugh. Truth be told, meal planning is one of my least favorite things to do.
My advice to you (and me) is to create a 4-6 week meal plan that you can rotate a couple of times. If that's too much, then 2-3 weeks will do. The point is to have a meal plan ready, so you don't have to think about what's for dinner when you're busy.
If you're like, whoa, settle down, Tammy, with your rotating meal plan talk, then another option is to utilize a meal planning service like eMeals, they have many healthy meal plans to choose from - here's a free trial for OYS readers.
Stock your freezer with meals. I love once-a-week meal prep, but when I'm busy, there's not a lot of time to grocery shop or cook, so having meals in the freezer becomes my saving grace. My advice to you (and me) is to carve out a big block of time once every 1-2 months to fill your freezer with various meals.
Check out these posts on my favorite breakfast freezer meals, dinner freezer kits, and snacks for the freezer.
Create a cleaning schedule. It's hard to keep up with cleaning when we're not busy; thrown in a week of dance rehearsals, pictures, and recitals, it's nearly impossible.
My advice to you (and me) is to create a weekly cleaning schedule. Please don't wait until it becomes overwhelming. Do a little every other day and keep up with it so that you can take a day off when your busy weeks hit.
Of course, we can do many other things to prepare ahead of time for our busy seasons of life, but I've found these three things to bring the most relief.
Have a great rest of the week!
