The perfect gift for a person with an enquiring mind.
This is a golf book with a difference. It's the story of a challenge match between two lifelong friends, Bob and Alec, as they compete for their personal trophy, two worthless banknotes encased in a plastic beermat. Due to a chance encounter in the clubhouse, Alec tells Bob that his father was responsible for his career choice as a mathemetician when he played a 'magic number' trick on him when he was eight years old. This starts a discussion which leads to them explaining the wonders of science starting with early scientists 2,800 years ago in ancient Greece and how our knowledge of the world has progressed right up to the modern day by way of Aristotle, Galileo, Newton, Einstein and many others. As neither Bob nor Alec are scientists, their chats between shots also include friends and family and are in simple everyday, sometimes humorous, language so there's no technical jargon for the reader to puzzle over. '18 Holes of Quantum Golf, or A Duffers Guide to the Universe, is a story that shows the true value of friendship. It's a book that encourages passion toward one's goals in life and I love how the author used Bob and Alec, two senior citizens playing a round of golf, to highlight the importance of caring, friendship, love, marriage and, most importantly, to explain how science has enabled us to gain a better understanding about the the world around us. Also, I loved the addition of humour in between the lines of the story which adds to the point that the author is explaining.' 'As a lover of history and a science enthusiast, tho' not a golfer, this was a delightful read. The book will be educational for people who want an easy introduction to the growth of science and the many impacts it has had on our modern world. -- reviewed in Online Book Club - February 2022 18 Holes of Quantum Golf is available on Amazon for downloading as an ebook, or purchasing as a paperback or hardcover at - 18-Holes-Quantum-Golf-Universe-ee-ook/dp/B09JW5FDM2/ or by searching the web for - 18 Holes of Quantum Golf.
