πŸ“† The Week Ahead: Administrative Professionals Week and Day

Today is Tuesday, April 26, and yesterday, we marked National Telephone Day. This week, from April 24-30, also marks Administrative Professionals Week.

Coming up later this week, we will celebrate Administrative Professionals Day on Wednesday, April 27, National Arbor Day on Friday, April 29, and National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30.

Celebrating Administrative Professionals Week

Administrative Professionals Week and Day is a time to recognize a job well done and promote the growth and training required by today's changing and increasingly technical workplace.

For years, the observance was known as Secretaries' Day. The change in name reflects the change in the nature of these jobs. These positions were once thought of mainly as message takers, typists, and coffee makers. The job of an administrative professional has evolved into a complex role, closely tied to the field of office automation.

There are 2.78 million administrative assistants and secretaries in the U.S., and the occupation is one of the five most common for women.
