Today is National Popcorn Day. January 26 is National Spouses Day and Michigan's 185th Anniversary of Statehood. January is Hot Tea Month. February is American Heart Month.

National Popcorn Day: January 19

According to the Popcorn Board, Americans consume 15 billion quarts of popped popcorn each year. That averages to about 47 quarts per person.

National Spouses Day: January 26

According to the Current Population Survey, 2021 ASEC Supplement, there are some 131.4 million adults age 15+ in the U.S., not counting 4.5 million who are separated.

Michigan

Michigan 185th Anniversary of Statehood (1837): January 26

Michigan was admitted to the Union on Jan. 26, 1837, as the 26th state. Nickname: The Great Lake State. Motto: Si Quæris Peninsulam Amœnam Circumspice.

National Hot Tea Month: January

U.S. imports of tea, spices, etc., were valued above $2.56 billion in 2020, $1.12 billion more than the $1.44 billion value a decade earlier in 2010.

American Heart Month: February

The 2019 American Community Survey estimates there were 698,316 physicians, 107,710 physician assistants 19,421 radiologists and 48,495 surgeons in the U.S.
