Based on responses collected June 14 through June 20, the Small Business Pulse Survey estimates that:

A graph showing how businesses have been affected overall by the coronavirus pandemic in late May 2020 and comparing it to a week in mid-June 2021.
  •  22.7% of U.S. small businesses have experienced little or no effect from the coronavirus pandemic. For responses collected 5/24/20 – 5/30/20, this statistic was 11.4%

  • 13.2% of U.S. small businesses experienced an increase in operating revenues in the last week. For responses collected 6/7 – 6/13, this statistic was 12.1%

  • 35.8% of U.S. small businesses believe they will need to identify and hire new employees in the next 6 months

  • 61.8% of U.S. Manufacturing Small Businesses experienced domestic supplier delays in the last week. The national average for this statistic was 36.7%

  • 39.1% of U.S. Wholesale Trade Small Businesses experienced foreign supplier delays in the last week.  For responses collected 6/7 – 6/13, this statistic was 40.2%

  • The Operational Challenges Index, which assesses the overall effect of the pandemic on business operations increased to -0.09, indicating fewer challenges

  • 5.9% of U.S. Small Businesses have experienced a large negative effect from the coronavirus pandemic. For responses collected 5/17/20 – 5/23/20, this statistic was 45.0%
