Latest news from Companies House A round-up of all our latest news and updates. Issue with our WebFiling service On Friday 13 March 2026, Companies House was made aware of an issue with our WebFiling service which meant a logged-in registered user could potentially access and change another company's details without their consent after performing a set of specific actions. We sent an email to all company registered email addresses clarifying what's happened and giving further recommendations for anyone who is concerned. At this stage, we have no confirmed reports of any data having been accessed without permission. We recognise that this incident will have caused concern and inconvenience to many of the companies and individuals who rely on our services. We are sorry for that. The online accounts and Company Tax Return service will close on 31 March 2026 As announced last year, the joint online filing service we share with HMRC will close on 31 March 2026. This means that from 1 April 2026, companies can file annual accounts using third party software, our web services or paper filing but will need to use software to file Company Tax Returns with HMRC. The service is closing because it's outdated and no longer aligns with modern digital standards, enhanced corporation tax requirements or changes to UK company law under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.
