Judge Blocks Abrego Deportation to Uganda

A federal judge on Monday barred the Trump administration from deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia until he can contest his case.

Abrego, released from a Tennessee jail just last week, was taken back into ICE custody Monday after reporting to an immigration office in Baltimore.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem previously said Abrego is being processed for deportation, likely to Uganda.

Abrego filed a lawsuit after he was detained, saying he fears torture or persecution if deported to Uganda and asking a judge to halt the process until he can make his case.
