The Texas House approved a bill that would require public schools to display a copy of the Ten Commandments in each classroom. Senate Bill 10 passed 82 to 46 yesterday, with three Democrats joining Republicans to advance the measure.

State Rep. Candy Noble (R-Lucas) noted that the Ten Commandments had been taught in the nation's schools prior to a since-abandoned 1971 Supreme Court decision that stipulated a law's primary effect must not advance religion.

In the hours-long debate, Democrats tried to add amendments that would have allowed local school boards to block the mandate, required the Ten Commandments to be displayed alongside the major tenets of other religions, and removed references to "manservant" and "maidservant."

The National Hot Air Balloon Championship and the Great Texas Balloon Race are coming to Longview next month, bringing over six dozen balloons and more than 100,000 spectators to the region.

Established in 1978, the Great Texas Balloon Race is one of the largest hot air balloon events in the country. In addition to a race, the event includes a balloon glow, tethered rides, concerts, and a drone show.

For the third consecutive year, Longview is also hosting the National Hot Air Balloon Championship. The championship is June 10-15, with the Great Texas Balloon Race taking place June 13–15.

Event founder Bill Bussey, an 82-year-old retired dentist, is one of the pilots planning to compete. "I'm the oldest one in the competition by far—by about 12 years," he said.

This Seven- Figure Deal with Universal Makes 2025 Their Biggest Year Yet

Emmy winners Paul Scanlan and Jeff Annison are reinventing the $100B film industry with Legion M, the first fan-owned movie studio.
