It’s officially summer for us! Today is my kids’ last day of school. I can’t believe it. Time is going way to fast - so fast, that it often gives me major anxiety. And at the same time, I know (and feel) that I have savored every.single.moment. that I possibly could. Time is a thief. This past weekend, our house was full with family and friends for multiple days. It is exactly what I always dreamed: entertaining, having a house full, good food, being with loved ones. It is my favorite thing in the world. I always want to be the house where everyone gathers. And my kids ADORE this. It means so much to them and they look forward to all of our get togethers, whether it’s an easy weekend thing with a few friends or a big holiday party. Sure, it’s a lot of work but once you do it a few times, you get into a groove. I have such a good system when it comes to entertaining. I do nearly *everything* ahead of time, which is the key to enjoying yourself when hosting. I plan ahead, use the same specific platters and dishes I always use and just change up the food. I loved when everyone was at our house when I was a kid. And this is already so ingrained in my kids. It makes me ridiculously happy. It’s such a fun way to share and show love.
