Flying Pig Marathon Weekend Arrives

The annual Flying Pig Marathon Weekend—featuring races for adults, children, and pets—runs today through Sunday across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Road closures begin today and continue through the weekend. Downtown parking will be limited during race hours. A complete list of closures is available here.

The weekend starts with the Fifty West Mile at 7 p.m. tonight. Saturday's events include the 5K, 10K, Flying Piglet for children 7 and under, Flying Fur for dogs and their owners, The 26th Mile for youth 7 and older, and PigAbilities for participants with disabilities.

Sunday features the Flying Pig Marathon, Half Marathon, and 4-Person Relay—all starting at 6:30 a.m. on Elm Street.

Lawmakers Approve Energy Bill

State lawmakers passed a major energy bill, sending the measure to Gov. Mike DeWine for his review.

The bill would eliminate ratepayer subsidies for two outdated coal plants. The subsidies, enacted in a 2019 law linked to a major corruption scandal, cost Ohioans nearly $400,000 daily.

The measure also would require power companies to justify rates every three years, prohibit unapproved consumer charges, and allow data centers to develop on-site energy sources.

Hunting Valley Tops List for Home Price Gains

Hunting Valley recorded Ohio's fastest-growing home prices by dollar amount over the past year, with average values rising 8.3% to $1.52 million, an increase of $116,287. You can see the statewide rankings here.

Indian Hill and Kirtland Hills followed Hunting Valley, with home values increasing by $89,870 and $44,531, respectively. Indian Hill home prices now average more than $1.5 million.

Stacker used data from Zillow to compile the list of the 50 Ohio cities with the fastest-growing home prices. Charts tracking local price changes since 2018 are available here.

More affordable areas, such as Kelleys Island and Glandorf, didn't see as large an increase by dollar amounts but saw their values grow even more based on percentage gains—up 11.8% and 10.5%, respectively.
