9/11 Comparison Stirs Controversy

Last week's raid and arrest of 173 suspected underage drinkers at a Tempe bar led some college students to complain and the bar to release a controversial T-shirt comparing the bust to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Some call the T-shirt insensitive and a downright disgrace, while others view the shirt as a harmless joke.

The bar, Tempe Tavern, took to social media to advertise the "Our 9/11" shirt along with one saying "#TavernStrong."

As for college students' reaction to the raid itself, most voiced frustration, with one protester accusing police of having "nothing better to do than ruin our fun."

Amazon Resumes Drone Deliveries

Amazon resumed drone deliveries in the city of Tolleson, promising 60-minute dropoff times for as many as 50,000 product types.

Amazon had suspended drone operations in Arizona and Texas in January, citing the desire to make software changes. Amazon officials said the pause was unrelated to a prior safety incident at an Oregon testing facility.

The six-propeller MK30 drones feature a shoebox-sized container that can carry items up to 5 pounds. Twelve drones will fly packages within a 7-mile radius of Tolleson's Amazon fulfillment center.

While the drones fly autonomously, they are monitored by human operators who can intervene. Amazon officials say they're cheaper to operate than cars, resulting in savings that can be passed on to customers.

GCU Drops Men's Volleyball

Grand Canyon University abruptly eliminated its men's volleyball program after 17 years, leaving players, coaches, and recruits unsure of their future.

The team has been one of the nation's best, competing in the NCAA Final Four last year and finishing 18-10 this year.

School officials said men's volleyball will be offered as a club sport, and student scholarships will be honored. The school offered no reason for the discontinuation.

Hawaii men's volleyball coach Charlie Wade, who recently received his third Big West Coach of the Year award, said he worries more schools will eliminate men's volleyball over funding issues.
