The Ohio River is expected to crest at 60 feet this morning, only the second time in 28 years that it has reached moderate flood stage. On Sunday, the rising water caused flooding in low-lying communities around Cincinnati.

The flooding triggered the closure of numerous roads across the area. On Saturday, Cincinnati installed floodgates for the first time since 2018. You can see a video of the Ohio River from Sunday morning here.

The American Red Cross announced the opening of a shelter in Clermont County for residents, providing emergency supplies, pet food, water, and cots.

On Saturday in Columbus, officials activated the Franklinton floodwall and installed floodgates along Greenlawn and Harmon avenues.

Cuyahoga County officials confirmed the discovery of Legionella bacteria in the water system at the county's Justice Center.

Health officials said the water is safe for normal use and that no illnesses have been reported. The bacteria can cause a pneumonia called Legionnaires' disease and mild, flu-like Pontiac fever.

Affected areas include the atrium, Jail One, and Tower One, which all share a common water system. The rest of the complex is unaffected.

In response, the county shut off impacted water sources, flushed and disinfected the system, installed filter systems, and scheduled more testing to confirm the water's safety.
