As some of you know, A Grain, a Green, a Bean was released on Tuesday.
It takes a long time to make a book, which means that the experience of writing always feels a little distant by the time the book is published. That's even more true for this title, because the rhythm of my days right now is so different from how it was a couple years ago, as I was working on the recipes.
As a result, the book's publication has been feeling a bit surreal.
Tuesday started off like any other work day. As the hours went by, I glanced down at my phone to see supportive texts and emails from family, friends, clients, and readers. Their preorder copies had arrived, and they wanted to let me know.
All of a sudden, the fact that the book was out in the world couldn't have felt more real.

I came home from work and thought about how grateful I am to the friends who came to my studio apartment and volunteered as taste testers when the recipes were still in progress, the recipe testers who gave me their time and feedback, the readers who placed preorders or requested the book from their local libraries, and the fans of Power Plates who've been willing to take a chance on this title, too.
Thank you, thank you.

Easter is a holiday that hits home more for me as I get older. Like many people, I think about hope and new beginnings. I think about faith and remaining in faith over time.
I think about my blessings, too. The opportunity to share food is for sure one of the biggest blessings that I've been given in life.
I have tsoureki and avgolemono soup and vegan koulourakia to share with my mom in a little bit, but I didn't want to let the day go by without expressing my gratitude to this community. Your support of the book and this blog—through ups and downs and periods of change in my life—mean so much to me.
Happy Sunday, all. If you celebrate, happy Easter. Hope this week gives you some sort of new beginning to feel excited about.
Till soon,
xo
