Article Icon 1The Flyover Celebrates 2nd Anniversary

Two years ago today, the first national edition of The Flyover was delivered to 47 people.

Our writing, editing, and proofreading staff consisted of just one person, Cole. Today, 10 editions of The Flyover reach more than 2.1 million readers daily, including those in Tennessee, and we have a full team of writers, editors, and proofreaders across the country—along with sales, technology, and customer support staff.

We've learned a lot in two years, but as you can see in our first edition—the goal has always been to cover the day's news in a direct and unbiased way.

In 2024, we added our Rotator section, along with a special coverage section (Olympics, Election, Holiday, etc). We also listened closely to your feedback, and we worked hard to improve our news coverage.

Growth brought new opportunities. Texas got the first Flyover state edition in January, 2024, and that's grown to over 300,000 readers. Since then we've added eight more state editions, including The Tennessee Flyover last November.

The Flyover's success is due to you, our readers, and we can't thank you enough for sticking with us.

We've got big plans for year three—including new state editions and a big new project that you'll hear more about soon. (Hint: it's a podcast :slightly_smiling_face: )

If you like The Flyover and find value and appreciate our work—we would love for you to support us financially if you can. We know everyone isn't able, but your financial support means a lot to us. You can do that by clicking here. It's a huge help!

Tennessee will send seven teams to the NCAA basketball tournament this week: the Volunteers, Memphis Tigers, Lipscomb Bisons and Vanderbilt Commodores for the men, and the Lady Vols, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee Tech for the women.

On the men's side, first-round games begin on Thursday. No. 5 Memphis will face No. 12 Colorado State in the West region, No. 10 Vanderbilt will battle No. 7 St. Mary's in the East region, and No. 2 seed Tennessee is set to take on No. 15 Wofford in the Midwest region. No. 14 Lipscomb will play No. 3 Iowa State. See a complete men's bracket here.

The women's first-round games also start Thursday, where No. 7 Vanderbilt takes on No. 10 Oregon, No. 5 Tennessee will face No. 12 South Florida, and the 15th seed Tennessee Tech challenges No. 1 seed South Carolina. See a complete women's bracket here.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt men's teams are part of NCAA tournament history as 14 SEC men's teams are competing this year, breaking the previous record of 11 set by the Big East in 2011.

Memphis' Peabody Hotel was named the No. 1 "Best Classic Hotel in The South" by readers of Southern Living in the magazine, beating other classic Southern hotels like The Don Cesar and Old Edwards Inn and Spa.

Hotels were recognized for their celebrated histories, exceptional service, and a history of excelling for many years. Among over 10,000 readers, the Peabody was chosen No. 1.

The Peabody renovated its Grand Lobby in 2024, including the famous lobby fountain, and will complete an $18 million renovation project this year, celebrating its 100th anniversary at its current location.
