Article Icon 1Court Considers Extending Voter Registration

U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross ruled on Wednesday that despite the impact of Hurricane Helene, she will not immediately reopen voter registration for Georgia's November elections.

The judge determined that the voting rights groups challenging the state's registration deadline failed to provide sufficient evidence that residents were prevented from registering due to storm-related disruptions.

A further hearing has been scheduled for Thursday to review additional evidence.

State officials, including representatives from Gov. Brian Kemp’s office, argue that reopening voter registration would place a heavy burden on counties as they prepare for early voting to begin next week.

Document Crunch, the construction industry’s only document compliance platform based in Alpharetta, has successfully raised $21.5 million in Series B funding led by Titanium Ventures.

The funds will enhance its AI-powered document compliance platform, which helps construction teams manage and comply with complex contracts and project documents.

Poor contract compliance often leads to costly disputes and delays.

The new funding will support further product development and expansion, focusing on increasing efficiency and reducing risk across more document types and construction workflows.

Several key high school football matchups will determine first-place standings in regions across Georgia this weekend.

Among the highlights, two undefeated teams will face off: Coffee will visit Lee County in a pivotal Region 2-5A clash, while Eastside takes on North Oconee in Region 8-4A, both games putting the top spot on the line.

Both Coffee and Lee County bring undefeated records into the game. According to Georgia High School Football Daily, Coffee, with its balanced offense and defense, is favored, but Lee County’s home-field advantage could play a key role in the outcome.

In the game between Eastside and North Oconee, North Oconee, known for its dominant defense, will look to stifle Eastside’s potent offense, with the winner securing a clear path to the regional title.
