Former President Donald Trump traveled across North Carolina Monday, stopping first in Swannanoa to view damage from Hurricane Helene and to thank those who are assisting with recovery efforts there.

The former president answered reporters' questions and criticized FEMA's response to the disaster. Addressing victims of Helene, he said: "I'm with you and the American people are with you, all the way."

Trump then traveled to Greenville to host a 3 p.m. rally in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum before making a final stop in Concord for a round table meeting with faith leaders. Trump's younger son Eric and Dr. Ben Carson also attended the meeting.

Tuesday, Trump will travel to Greensboro to host a 7 p.m. rally at Greensboro Coliseum.

Gov. Roy Cooper announced Monday that NCDOT has lifted the essential-only travel ban in western North Carolina after reopening 789 of 1,200 roads previously closed due to damage from Hurricane Helene.

NCDOT is advising drivers to prepare for slowdowns and "obey all signs and barricades."

The road reopenings are coinciding with fall colors peaking in western North Carolina. This guide suggests popular viewing spots currently accessible to travelers in North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee.

Check the NCDOT Road Reopening dashboard for the latest conditions before you head out.

The Flyover

When you get headaches, a significant cause of the pain you feel is due to inflammation in the blood vessels and tissue in your head.¹ Painkillers work because they can shrink the inflamed blood vessels. While this can help reduce pain when taken early enough they can also be unhealthy and addictive.

Aculief provides a natural solution by applying cold therapy and soothing compression directly to your head's natural headache "relief points".

This technique reduces blood vessel swelling and inflammation in all the areas you feel the most pressure, resulting in fast pain relief that feels great – without having to rely on drugs².
