Milton Makes Landfall, Floods Florida

Hurricane Milton made landfall near Sarasota last night as a Category 3 storm with 115 mph winds, flooding the middle of the state and leaving at least 1.6 million people without power. Follow live updates.

The storm was downgraded to Category 2 less than two hours after making landfall. Over a foot of rain fell in many areas, and the entire Tampa Bay area was under flash flood warnings last night.

Millions of residents evacuated ahead of the storm. Stranded tourists and hurricane evacuees have filled all of Orlando’s 100,000 hotel rooms. It's unclear how soon people will be able to return to their homes.

Ahead of the hurricane, tornadic supercells, dangerous rotating thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, spawned multiple tornadoes across southern Florida. Watch a video here.

Gov. Ron DeSantis mobilized thousands of rescue personnel, National Guard members, and utility workers to respond to the impending disaster.

FBI Foils Election Terror Plot

Oklahoma officials confirmed on Wednesday the arrest of a Moore high school student as a co-conspirator in a foiled ISIS-linked terrorist attack plot in the United States.

The unnamed juvenile was arrested when he and suspected terrorist Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi met with an FBI asset in rural Oklahoma to purchase assault rifles and ammunition.

According to a federal criminal complaint, the juvenile is Tawhedi's brother-in-law, and both are followers of ISIS. They also attempted to sell their family home and relocate their families abroad.

Tawhedi faces charges of conspiring and attempting to provide material support to ISIS, carrying a maximum 20-year sentence, and receiving a firearm for committing a felony or federal terrorism crime, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Orange Rolling With Vance, Walz

Reporters embedded with vice-presidential candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz revived the tradition of orange rolling in an effort to lighten things up during a particularly intense election.

Orange rolling is a decades-old tradition dating back to President Ronald Reagan, involving the press corps writing a question on an orange and rolling it up the plane's aisle to the candidate, who writes his answer on the orange and rolls it back.

During a Sunday flight, a CBS News reporter asked Walz for his Dream dinner guest. Walz rolled the orange back a day later with Bruce Springsteen written in black marker.

On Tuesday, it was Vance’s turn. Flying from his campaign event in Detroit, the press wrote Fave Song? on an orange. Vance responded within minutes with Led Zeppelin’s Ten Years Gone.
