The Palm Beach County Commission unanimously approved Vanderbilt University's plan to bring a graduate campus to downtown West Palm Beach, projecting a $7 billion economic impact over the next 25 years.

Under the proposal, Vanderbilt would spend $300 million to establish an AI & Data Science and Innovation Hub on land donated by both the city and county.

Palm Beach County will contribute 5 acres of land, while West Palm Beach will donate 2 acres along Tamarind Ave. The project is expected to create jobs and boost the local economy, with a projected return on investment of more than 20 to 1 for the county.

This agreement follows the previously scrapped effort to bring a University of Florida campus to West Palm Beach.

On Tuesday, the Martin County Commission unanimously approved a plan to propose two potential sites for a Brightline train station within the county.

The two locations, near the courthouse and the fairgrounds, were selected after the city of Stuart reversed a previous agreement for a station within the city.

The county hopes Brightline will opt for one of the two proposals for a quick turnaround vote in November.

The county capped its investment at $15 million and will require Brightline to build and maintain any safety fencing.

The Florida Chamber Foundation and the Children's Movement of Florida combined efforts to help early learning programs impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The 2024 Florida Early Learning Recovery Fund launched with an initial fundraising goal of $1 million. Funds raised will help storm-affected early learning centers reopen.

The fund, which accepts online contributions, will be administered in partnership with Florida's Early Learning Coalitions.

According to the chamber and Children's Movement, more than 1,500 childcare providers and family childcare homes in Florida sustained damage that threatened their operation following Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Cambodia isn't mentioned often in the news, but the country is still reeling from the genocide of as many as 3 million people in the 1970s. The dictator Pol Pot targeted religious minorities, "intellectuals" (anyone wearing glasses could count), and professionals such as lawyers and doctors.

The losses have left the nation poverty-stricken, with low literacy, limited health care, and little sanitation safety. All are especially threatening to vulnerable children in the country.

OneHope is bringing light into the darkness. They're reaching children and youth with lessons on health and sanitation while sharing the eternal hope of Jesus in a life-changing program.
