|  Google Goes Nuclear for Data Power
Google announced a deal with nuclear reactor developer Kairos Power to purchase energy to power its AI data centers, following a similar move by Microsoft to restart Pennsylvania's Three Mile Island nuclear plant for the same purpose. Kairos Power, a startup that develops small reactors with molten salt coolant, received federal approval last year to build a new nuclear reactor. It's the first such permit granted in 50 years. Google described the next-gen reactors as robust, safe, and designed with a modular approach to reduce construction timelines and facilitate easier placement. The first reactor is expected to come online this decade, with additional reactors projected by 2035.
