Armed Man Arrested Near Trump Rally

A Nevada man identified as Vem Miller was arrested at a checkpoint about a quarter-mile from Donald Trump’s rally in Coachella, California, on Saturday, after being found in possession of firearms, including a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine.

Police also discovered multiple passports, driver’s licenses under different names, a fake license plate, as well as fake VIP and press passes to the rally.

Authorities confirmed the incident did not impact Trump’s safety or the rally attendees.

Miller was released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2025.

“We probably stopped another assassination attempt,” Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said.

Advanced U.S. Defense System Heads to Israel

The Pentagon announced Sunday that the U.S. will send an advanced missile defense system to Israel, along with the military personnel to operate it.

The move to provide direct U.S. assistance in defending Israel follows a missile attack by Iran on Oct. 1, in which Iran also warned the U.S. to keep its forces out of Israel.

The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense system is being delivered at the direction of President Joe Biden, amid international pressure to prevent further escalation of tensions in the Middle East into a broader conflict.

On Sunday, four Israeli soldiers were killed and over 60 injured in a drone attack by Hezbollah on an army base, one of the worst attacks on the Israeli military since the war began.

SpaceX Achieves Mid-Air Rocket Catch

Elon Musk’s SpaceX reached a major milestone on Sunday with the successful test flight of its Starship rocket, featuring the mid-air capture of the Super Heavy booster during its fifth test flight.

The booster was caught by giant mechanical arms, dubbed “Mechazilla,” after separating from the rocket and returning to the launch pad. Watch the moment here.

Starship is the most powerful rocket ever built. You can see its specifications here. Musk celebrated the achievement on X, calling it “science fiction without the fiction part.”
