Classic Beef Stew
Spoon in a bowl of beef stew with carrots and potatoes.

With thousands of 5-star reviews, this classic French beef stew is my all-time most popular recipe—and for good reason! It's incredibly delicious and the ultimate comfort food. Pieces of well-marbled beef are seared in a hot pan, then gently braised with garlic and onions in a rich wine-based broth. After a few hours, the meat becomes meltingly tender and enveloped in a deeply flavorful sauce. Go ahead and make it a day or two ahead of time—the flavor only gets better as it sits.

Popovers
baked popovers in muffin tin

Popovers are essentially hollow rolls made from an eggy batter that rises dramatically as steam builds inside, creating that signature "pop." What makes them truly special is the texture: crisp and golden on the outside, with a soft, almost custardy interior. This recipe includes a cheese topping, which really takes the flavor up a notch. The idea comes from the cheese-topped popovers served at BLT Steak—truly one of the best things I've ever eaten!

Crème Brûlée
Spoon in a partially-eaten creme brulee.

Julia Child famously said, "I think every woman should have a blowtorch," and when it comes to crème brûlée, I couldn't agree more. This iconic French dessert features a luscious vanilla custard topped with a shatteringly crisp layer of caramelized sugar. If you don't have a blowtorch, no worries—a broiler will do the job (though, I'll admit, using a blowtorch is pretty fun!).
