It's funny how you can know something on an intellectual level, but actually doing is another thing! I'm talking here about sugar. We try not to eat much food from boxes, but I will say I've been pouring bowls of "healthy" cereal for both Dan and me for a good year, pretty much every single morning. Cereal and berries, on repeat. We decided to stop that and go for breakfast that delivers protein and fiber, lots of it. I can see how the Middle Eastern dish of foul madammes became such an important morning food: the nutrition factor is off the charts and boy, does it satisfy! Find a great recipe with garlic, lemon and olive oil in my cookbook (page 145).
This doesn't mean we're off sugar altogether...the baking season is upon us and it's my very favorite! I just set up my Cookie Collection here with an update on the Coconut Date Balls as well. What recipes will you be looking for to round out your cookie baking plans?
You may have seen an email earlier today--our special for today is on Lebanese Extra Virgin Olive Oil, shop those delights with code SAVEDAY3 for 15% off. These make such nice and interesting gifts.
I'll see you back here for recipes and more this week.
Bless your hands,
Braised Chicken with Lemon and Olives.
The recipe uses skin-on, bone-in thighs and buttery Castelvetrano olives. We consider this dish a treat because the flavors are so exciting and delectable!
Make a lot...these are as delicious with dinner as they are for lunch or a snack. The hazelnuts and red onion add so much, as does the pomegranate molasses for a bright finish.
