Hi reader,
If you've been a reader of my blog for some time, you already know that when Mr. Crumbs and I were newlyweds, we were in major debt without a budget, and well - we ate whatever we wanted.
We had our favorite restaurants and I did prepare my staple recipes at the time, but I didn't cook much from scratch.
Once we started budgeting, we realized that in order to keep our monthly food budget under $400 a month, we were going to have to make SOME things from scratch.
And you know what? It's not as daunting as you may think!
Did you notice that I said SOME things from scratch? That's because you don't have to make every single thing from scratch in order to be successful with your food budget!
Here is how we've benefited from cooking from scratch:
- It's much healthier to eat real food
- We save big on our grocery budget every month
- We've paid off our debt
What are the best foods to make from scratch?
Check out my blog post, The Best Foods to Make from Scratch, with great money saving ideas and many more recipes that are SUPER easy to make from scratch!
Blessings,
♥︎ Tiffany
PS: Determining WHAT to make from scratch can be a little overwhelming. The best thing to remember is you only need to make the foods that YOUR family likes.
I have an entire lesson on this concept in Grocery Budget Bootcamp. We go in-depth on foods your family likes, what the cost breakdown is of making it at home vs purchasing, and even dig into making time for foods from scratch.
Registration for GBB opens soon, so if this sounds like something you need help with, then keep your eyes open! We'll send out details soon!
