A video and post on how to identify, pick and store fresh leaves.
~ Grape Leaves Season! ~ Edible freshly-picked grape leaves are a tradition for the Lebanese and throughout the Levant. Pick early, not too late in the season, for tender young leaves. Learn how to identify the edible vine leaves, and how to store them once you've picked a bundle, here. A kind reader who is a botanist let me know that our grape leaves are "river grapes." FYI. Of course, you can make excellent stuffed rolls using jarred leaves; we use Yergot or Orlando brand when we use jarred. Which brand do you use? What tips do you have for preserving fresh leaves? Leave your comments on the post using the link below, for all to share in! Coming up tomorrow, recipes. | | |
