The Minister for Care Gillian Keegan has written to care providers about new guidance which applies from 4 April 2022: Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) webinars for care home, non-care home, and all setting service managers will be taking place on 6, 7, and 29 April. These will be chaired by Chief Nurse Deborah Sturdy OBE and offer answers to questions and concerns about the policy changes. We've published our new Out of Sight report on the progress made on our recommendations and continued areas of concern, since our first report in October 2020. We're concerned about the use of restraint in mental health and social care settings. At the end of 2018, the Secretary of State commissioned CQC to review the use of restrictive measures and since then we've published a series of reports. In our latest report, we found that more progress must be made to improve people's lives. We outline the need to continue reviewing the use of restraint, segregation and seclusion in care settings. You can listen to our Out of Sight progress report podcast, and hear from people with lived experiences who speak about this topic and explore the report's key themes. CQC's Out of Sight leads Debbie Ivanova and Jemima Burnage have also written a blog. Have your say on CQC's future regulatory model If you haven't joined a recent webinar or had time to get up to speed with the development of our new regulatory model you can watch Dave James, Head of Policy for Adult Social Care take you through our current thinking. Please share your thoughts with us by answering 4 brief questions on Citizen Lab, it is free and easy to sign up. Survey on Local Authority assurance: assessment and evidence requirements We are expecting new responsibilities related to Local Authority assurance through the Health and Care Bill from April 2023. We need your feedback on what you think we should consider when we gather evidence and data on local authorities, how we can connect with local people to inform our evidence and what are the key pieces of evidence we should be collecting. Update for all Capacity Tracker users Department of Health and Social Care's (DHSC) Capacity Tracker data collection will continue in 2022/23. Following a review with provider groups, CQC and local government there will be the following changes: - removing many infection control fund and flu vaccination questions
- reducing frequency of workforce and COVID-19 vaccination questions to weekly
- adding a field for second booster where relevant
Further reviews will focus on improving questions on workforce, visiting and maximising its value to providers. Relevant users should have received more detail direct, already. If you haven't, please email the CT team. Since January, we've updated you that Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is working with providers, commissioners, and regulators to develop a streamlined and focused approach on future data collection. DHSC will be holding workshops on this throughout 2022, if you are interested in joining these sessions, submit the form below. For more information and to secure your place at the workshops submit this form by 5th April 2022. |
