Census Academy has a new section! Just look for the 2020 Census Data icon. Here, you will find a hub of Data Gems, Videos, Courses, Webinars, and Tutorials about how to find and access 2020 Census data. This includes how to access the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site for 2020 Census redistricting data, and where to look for the same data on data.census.gov when it's available.

As we begin to roll out more tools and data, our new section on Census Academy will help you find all our 2020 Census data user learning content in one place.

New Course: How to Access 2020 Census Redistricting Data Files from the Census Bureau's FTP Site

Mary Leisenring presents, "How to Access Redistricting Data From the 2020 Decennial Census, an All-Level Course."

In this all-level course, you will learn the basics about the Decennial Census, the Redistricting Data Program, Public Law 94-171 redistricting data, geographic availability, and the legacy format.

We then demonstrate how to set up a database, download, and extract redistricting data in the legacy format – the format provided in recent decades – using prototype data in Microsoft Access as an example.

Redistricting data are released for the purpose of redrawing legislative and electoral district boundaries. These data will be the first demographic and housing 2020 Census data available down to the block level. The Census Bureau will release 2020 Census redistricting data by Aug. 16.
