I was excited to try this Thai place around the corner with my husband, and one of the dishes we ordered was the classic chicken khao soi, but it came...with a twist? Well, I'm not sure if authentic khao soi is topped with peppercorn flakes, but this one was, and I assumed it to be an adaptation to Wuhan taste buds. I was fully expecting it to be too spicy and to dislike it, but to my surprise, I really enjoyed it! The soup base was suuuuuuuuuuuper rich and flavourful, and the peppercorn flakes didn't add too much spiciness to it (contrary to what I had anticipated), and overall it was just great. Delightful meal, indeed!
