Let me tell you something I wish someone told me years ago
๐ Just because you're not eating fast food doesn't mean you're eating healthy.
Back then, I truly thought I was doing everything right.
๐ซ No sugary drinks.
๐ซ No drive-thru runs.
๐ซ No late-night pizza binges.
I cooked at home, avoided junk (or I thought), and figured I was doing pretty well.
So when I stepped on the scale and didn't see the results I was hoping for?
I was confused. Frustrated. Over it.
That's when I decided to do something really simpleโฆ
I didn't change a thing.
I didn't start a new diet.
I didn't meal prep for hours or throw away half my pantry.
I justโฆ paid attention.
I Tracked Everything I Ate for a Couple of Daysโฆ
No rules. No judgment.
I just ate like I normally would and logged it all using MyFitnessPal.
Every bite. Every sip. Every little snack.
And wowโdid I learn a lot.
That day, I hit over 3,000 calories.
More than 500 of those were from my coffee drinks alone. ๐ณ
My mind was blown.
Not because I had "cheated" or done anything "bad"... but because I genuinely had no idea how much I was eating. I wasn't emotionally eating or stress-bingingโI was just unaware.
At the Time, I Didn't Call It a Food Auditโฆ
But now, that's exactly what it was.
A Food Audit (I used to also call it a food overhaul) is simply the process of tracking what you're eatingโwithout changing anythingโso you can actually see what's going on.
Because here's the truthโฆ
๐ฏ You can't change what you're not aware of.
๐ฏ And you definitely can't out-exercise chocolate cake and creamy lattes (I've tried).
If you're stuck, frustrated, or wondering why you're not seeing progressโeven when you're "trying to eat healthy"โthis is the first step.
So... What Is a Food Audit?
Okay, don't let the word audit freak you out.
This isn't about numbers or perfectionโit's just about noticing.
Here's all it means:
๐ Eat like you normally would.
๐ Write down (or track) everything you eat and drink for a day or two.
๐ Then take a peek at what's going on.
That's it.
It's not about judgmentโit's about awareness. And trust me, you'll learn a lot just by doing this.
