Fire Destroys Multimillion-Dollar House

A massive fire engulfed a multimillion-dollar guest house at a Paradise Valley estate on Wednesday evening.

The guest house caught fire around 6:30 p.m., with smoke visible for miles. Fire crews from numerous agencies deployed supply and attack lines that included an elevated master stream.

Helicopter footage from Arizona Family News showed flames raging for nearly an hour before firefighters gained control.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation, with officials saying the fire does not appear to have been intentionally set.

Hunting Using Dog Packs Under Fire

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission will review a petition that seeks to prohibit the use of dog packs for hunting game such as mountain lions and bears.

A December meeting on the issue drew more than 60 hunters, who defended dog pack hunting as a longstanding tradition they claimed is both safe and effective.

Conservation groups argue the practice, which often involves dogs with GPS collars chasing and treeing animals, violates fair chase principles and poses risks to endangered species like jaguars and ocelots.

State wildlife officials will consider the proposed ban during a public meeting today in Phoenix.

More than 20 Phoenix Valley children and their families embarked on a dream trip to Disney World in Orlando as part of Make-A-Wish Foundation's World Wish Month.

Staff at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport welcomed the children, who donned Mickey Mouse ears and took part in a dance party at the departure gate. Watch the footage.

American Airlines provided the families with a free chartered flight that included a special in-flight menu and activity kits. A group of "Wishmakers" welcomed the families upon landing at the Orlando International Airport.
